With the America250PA Direct Effect Innovation Challenge (DEIC) back in full swing, Colleges and Universities across the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania are signing up to take part in this year’s BUY PA initiative—and it appears we’ll be seeing some familiar faces.
The Direct Effect Innovation Challenge is open to all Colleges and Universities in PA, and includes a three-round event conducted virtually. This year’s participating teams will get creative and design integrated strategies to celebrate and innovate business in PA.
Dr. Dorene Ciletti, Associate Professor and Director of the Marketing and Sales Program at Point Park University, was the first to sign up for this year’s competition. Ciletti served as a PPU team advisor in last year’s 2019 DEIC—helping to organize the Southwest Regional Round on the PPU campus and supporting her students as they advanced all the way to the final round. Her positive experience, she says, is what influenced her to participate again.
Listen to the podcast interview below to learn more about Ciletti’s experience and perspective as an educator taking part in the America250PA DEIC.
This year’s PPU team will also welcome back IT and Marketing student Sabrina Tatalias. Tatalias is eager to participate again, as the professional opportunities she gained from last year’s competition have influenced her educational and career goals. From a larger network to a greater interest in marketing to a newfound fascination with direct mail, Tatalias is “excited to have a do-over” and can’t wait to take advantage of the career-building opportunity once again.
Watch the full interview with Tatalias below to learn more about the DEIC from a student’s perspective, including a recap of last year’s competition, discussion on this year’s BUY PA initiative, and advice from a competing student.
