How YOU can help Pennsylvania celebrate America’s 250th Anniversary The Pennsylvania Commission for the United States Semiquincentennial (America250PA) is gearing up to plan, encourage, develop and coordinate the commemoration of the 250th anniversary of the founding of the United States, Pennsylvania’s integral role in that event, and the impact of its people on the nation’s past, present and future. America250PA is currently requesting individuals to join Advisory Committees. Here’s how YOU can help make an impact. America250PA Goals
Engage all citizens of the Commonwealth from all 67 counties
Acknowledge and discuss our Commonwealth’s history to better understand the origins and multiple perspectives of issues facing PA and our nation today
Use history to encourage and inspire future leaders
Focus on communication, engagement, participation, diversity and inclusiveness
Utilize an EPIC framework: Education, Preservation, Innovation, and Celebration
County Appointments Pennsylvania is one of the earliest states to have its own commission, America250PA, to supplement the official federal commission (America250). With a goal of engaging all 67 counties in the Commonwealth, the America250PA commission requests that each county appoint a representative. Each county representative will:
Coordinate efforts of county-specific initiatives between the county and the America250PA campaign staff
Ensure one’s own county has a voice in planning the commemoration
Contribute to statewide participation in the E.P.I.C. 250th celebration
County commissioners will be responsible for appointing county representatives and can reach out to info@America250PA.org for more information. Those interested in participating as a county representative should read the full list of “Advisory Member Responsibilities” below and apply by reaching out to their commissioners. Subcommittee Advisory Appointments America250PA is searching for Advisory Committee members to help with the planning of the 250th Anniversary of the United States in 2026. To ensure the 250th Anniversary of the United States is E.P.I.C. for Pennsylvania, our goal is to have advisory committee members that represent all Pennsylvanians, in all regions with varied skills, education levels and interests. We are aiming to appoint ONE advisory member from each county to the following committees: Fundraising, Marketing, Education/Innovation, Historical, Arts & Culture, Military, Veterans and Women. These individuals play a vital role in planning commemoration activities and helping America250PA achieve its goal of engaging and celebrating all Pennsylvanians. The responsibilities for this position are detailed below. If you are interested in applying, please submit your résumé to info@America250PA.org. -Advisory Member Responsibilities- All advisory members are expected to fulfill the following responsibilities:
Reporting activities or opportunities in their regions to the subcommittees for possible engagement
Participating on planning calls, as deemed appropriate by the Sub-Committee Chair
Promote and attend regional events
Attend the A250PA Fall meeting and event in Harrisburg annually
Advisory positions are non-voting and therefore are voluntary. The Commission is not responsible for any travel costs or expenses not pre-approved by the Chair or Executive Director
